DA R33 Million Corrupt Dealings Exposed, Auditor-General Investigates
The DA corruption saga of R33 million has taken another turn after the Auditor-General was called in to conduct an investigation.
Close to R29 million was secretly paid to four football teams to participate in Cape Town Cup that was botched after monies were already moved around. The fake event was going to be staged as an excuse of the send by the DA in Western Cape Province.
All opposition parties in WC province have accused the DA for corruption and its attempt to divert tax payers monies in order to benefit individuals.
Freedom Front plus councillor Andre Fourie supported Cosatu's call for DA Mayor Patricia de Lille to resign. Western Cape premier has not commented on the matter which leave question and suspicions about her involvement.
It has been confirmed that R12.4m was paid to Crystal Place, R12.4m to Sporting Lisbon, R3.2m to Ajax Cape Town and R1m to SuperSport United. It is not know how much kick-backs were paid.
It was also revealed that its not the first time that a corrupt deal is structure to provide kick-backs. More than R2.4m was looted during the Bafana match against Nigeria in September 2014. Another R2.8 million was looted but only generated R2.1m in income. On June 16, the city spent R2.8m during a Bafana match against Angola.
The Public Protector has also been called to investigate this matter but there does not seem to be any confirmation from her office. The Auditor-General's office confirmed on Thursday that it will be investigating this corruption and looting of tax payers money by the DA.
