ANC Lays Criminal Charges Against Zille for Illegal Debugging of Phones
ANC Western Cape Secretary, Faiez Jacobs, has confirmed that charges against Premier Helen Zille will be laid at a police station today.
This comes after Zille allegedly hired phones debugging private owned by a suspended cop, Scheeper, to perform spying related activities on her behalf. This is a serious criminal offense in South African law.
Scheepers was arrested and charged with fraud, perjury and violating the Electronic Communications Act. He has been released on a R20 000 bail.
It is believed that Scheepers' confiscated electronic material contains damning evidence against Zille and her direct involvement on illegally spying activities.
The application to Western Cape High court to have all electronic equipment return has been unsuccessful. The matter will be heard in court on 20 November 2015.
